Many of us are so busy with calendars that never stop filling up, especially around tax season. How do you save yourself some time and actually get stuff done?
It’s important to focus on the task at hand. Take some time every morning to prioritize what you need to get done that day. Once you get your tasks for the day prioritized, it’s time to start working through the list one-by-one.
However, the most important thing you can do is give yourself the occasional break from the tasks. We’re not talking about a break to go into a meeting (which will inevitably happen); we’re talking about a real break.

You may be thinking, “I just don’t have the time to stop and take a break!” While this may be true, in order to complete your tasks effectively, you need these small breaks. A quick 5-minute break away from your tasks will give your brain a breather and allow you to clear your mind. After this break, you can come back to the task at hand with a fresh view. You’ll be able to easily jump in and knock it out. A break can also help your physical health. Use that quick break to talk a walk around the office or step outside to get some fresh air.
The break is going to save you time, because rather than staring at the task at hand for an hour, you refresh your mind and come back ready to work. Tasks will get done faster, and your brain will thank you later.
